An Endless Supply of Dad Jokes
By Tammy Hinojos, Director of Editorial Services
Try having a bad day when Haynes is around. I dare you. I know I’ll win that challenge because it’s actually not possible. Haynes Hudson is our eternally optimistic, always positive, easy-going and super hilarious Director of Accounts Services. One of my favorite things about Haynes is that he makes the rounds (even on hard days!), checking on team members, offering encouragement, expressing gratitude, handing out occasional pick-me-ups (hello, snowcones!) and his trademark humor.
Check out my recent convo with Haynes and prepare to smile. 😀
TH: How do you start the day?
HH: I usually roll out of bed about 5:45, somewhat unwillingly, and, during the school year, begin the process of waking my two kids. It usually takes jumper cables to wake my son, and that’s the reason for the extra time. Then after school drop-offs, I start my 45-minute commute (aka ME TIME), and usually, I listen to The Ticket to get my daily current events and strange facts to share with my coworkers.
TH: You’ve been dubbed the MPR funny guy and tension buster. Is that okay with you?
HH: Oh, sure. I discovered early in life that I love to make people laugh. I just love laughing in general. And a good sense of humor is a great asset. It makes people feel comfortable with you. If you’re funny, you’re highly valuable in my life.
TH: What makes you good at what you do in your role here at MPR?
HH: Well, I think I have a combination of experience that is useful, but with that, I have an ability and willingness to look at our marketing efforts from both sides. It’s not very useful to our clients if I take a myopic view as a marketer. With our clients, my main goal is to help them grow their business and make more money. If we’re not helping them to do that, we need to question our motives or our methods.
On a more personal level, I credit my parents for instilling in me the values that I’ve carried with me throughout my career—things like honesty, humility, work ethic and respect. I have a particular fondness for simplicity…and the simplest words to live by are to treat others the way you want to be treated.
TH: So good! Tell us more about life outside of work.
HH: Well, first of all, I’m happy to have one! I’ve been married to my wife Michelle for 13 years, and we have two great kids, a daughter in middle school and a son in elementary school. I enjoy staying fit and I really love to cook; almost as much as I love to eat! I do a lot of DIY projects, with my most recent being a firepit and patio area in my backyard. I’m looking forward to using it with a margarita in hand. And of course, my favorite food is Mexican!
TH: What’s the next big project on your plate?
HH: My next big project here at MPR is helping our clients navigate the post-pandemic world we find ourselves in. There are so many unknowns, and for businesses, the unknown can be scary. It’s my job to offer thoughtful guidance based on my knowledge and experience. Times like these create partnerships that last a LIFETIME!
Did I tell you? You love him, right? We all do. MPR is made up of an eclectic group of individuals. We’re unique and diverse, but our common denominator is our collective Yes-mentality (and our collective appreciation of good Mexican food!).
