Kick Average to the Curb and Commit to Doing Something Remarkable
Author, speaker and success coach Jen Sincero is credited with many amazing and candidly honest quotes about everything from life and purpose to success and money. Her book “You Are a Badass at Making Money” is an excellent read and not just for the income-producing tips. There are many solid nuggets that apply to life across the board, including your work life.
One line resonated with us so much, we can’t stop thinking about it; “Time spent rationalizing the mediocre could be time spent creating the magnificent.”
At Miller Public Relations, we subscribe to a no-excuses mentality. When your tag line is Yes, we can!, it’s important to be the kind of people who will Get. It. Done. On behalf of the clients we serve, we commit to create, innovate, communicate, track, advise, listen, think outside the box, adjust. All with the goal of positioning each client as a trusted leader in their particular market. In short, we grow businesses—from the inside out.
If one of your goals for the New Year is to grow your business, it’s time to stop settling for mediocre and make room for the magnificent! Let’s talk.
In the meantime, here are just a few tips that we have found to be successful, year after year, across a variety of medical practices and businesses alike.
See (and recognize!) Great Things.
Have a team member that’s going above and beyond in serving your patients or customers? Notice it. And not only notice it, but also recognize and reward it in front of your team. Everyone likes to feel appreciated for a job well done! Recognition breeds motivation and the result is improved attitudes, productivity and better overall culture in your organization.
Ask Great Questions.
Since honest evaluation is a major key to success in any kind of business, it’s important to ask on a regular basis how things are going. Is your team happy and motivated? Is your business growing? Are your patients or customers raving fans who refer you to their friends, family and co-workers? Do not settle for less than a resounding yes. Mediocrity and complacency go hand in hand. An honest Q&A session gives you the foundation needed to move into the realm of the magnificent.
Instill Great Trust.
According to Fast Company, “The Surprising Lesson Between Compassion and Success”, being nice pays off. “In addition to being pleasant and easy to work with, compassion makes you trustworthy. Trust is a crucial aspect of our lives because it makes us feel safe,” the research article suggests. If you want to keep the patient, the customer (and the team member!), keep the trust.
Take Great Actions.
Armed with the knowledge you gained from #2, it’s time to take action. As the saying goes, “A one hundred mile journey begins with just a single step.” If you want to move your business from just okay to extraordinary, it’s go time.
Need help with knowing exactly which actions to take? That’s where we come in.
